Alstom eyeTrain contract award
16 October 2009
Petards, the AIM quoted developer of advanced security and surveillance systems, announces that it has
been awarded a contract to supply Alstom Ferroviaria S.p.A of Italy ("Alstom") with Petards eyeTrain® onboard
digital CCTV systems for new Pendolino trains.
Alstom are supplying Angel Trains with four new 9-car Pendolino trains and 70 additional cars to lengthen
these and 31 of the existing trains for use on the West Coast Main Line operated by Virgin Trains. Petards
eyeTrain® on-board digital CCTV is already successfully deployed on the West Coast Main Line’s existing
fleet and Alstom have chosen to fit the new vehicles to be supplied with Petards eyeTrain®.
The contract is worth approximately £0.5m and deliveries, which are expected to commence in December
this year, will be made over a three year period.
Commenting on the awards, Petards Chief Executive Bill Conn said "We are extremely happy to be working
again with Alstom on a project which also involves two of our other key customers; Angel Trains and Virgin
Trains.
The West Coast Main Line is the UK's busiest mainline railway and it is pleasing that Petards' solutions have
again been to provide passengers with a safer and more secure environment in which to travel"
